Critics LOVE 'Spelling Bee!'
"With TheatreWorks veteran Beth Bonnabeau at the helm, an extraordinary all-adult cast portraying a quirky sextet of junior high spelling bee contestants and hilariously entertaining musical numbers, the TheatreWorks production is uproarious, endearing and outright fun." —The Housatonic Times
“‘Spelling Bee[’s]…comedy is…sprinkled generously around until the end of the musical, a finale that's so rousing in the TheatreWorks production it has you bouncing right out of your seat.” — Danbury News-Times
“... This play is a comedy and it is all fun – due in large part to the remarkable skills of the nine actors who capture the idiosyncrasies of their characters and make them come alive….their collective effort flourishes under the guidance of director Beth Bonnabeau of New Milford, whose sense of pacing and cohesion gives each actor a chance to shine...” —The Citizen-News

TheatreWorks Earns $1,000 to Support FREE Senior Nights

Thanks to the hard work by our fundraising guru Jan King and Board Member Kay Abella. Ingrid Manning, CEO of the Connecticut Community Foundation joined us at our TheatreWorks board meeting on March 3rd to present us with a sponsorship check for $1,000 to support our Senior Nights. For those who don't know, we offer a free performance for seniors for each production and the sponsorship will help defray those costs.
Ingrid had never been to the theatre so Kay gave her a brief tour. She showed her everything from the technicians' balcony to the rabbit warren of dressing rooms, set building supplies, and costume storage – all the secret corners the audience doesn't usually see. Peering up the narrow stairs from dressing room to stage, Ingrid was astonished that a whole cast makes it up and down many times during each performance. Ingrid has promised to come back very soon to see "Putnam Country Spelling Bee!"
